Quality of Life & Psychoendocrinology

The Centre includes resources for a comprehensive psychological evaluation of children with growth disorders. An important part of the Centre's research is to develop methods to measure growth in terms of the psychosocial changes or "inner centimeters" that are part of the growth failure and part of the growth treatment effect. Our clinical trials research has led to an understanding of the importance of psychological growth and improvements in quality of life that can be associated with increased physical growth. These aspects must be taken into consideration when evaluating the outcomes of treatment. At the centre we are dedicated to leaning more about the psychological, cognitive and social aspects of the children's experience of physical growth and growth failure. We are also aware of the contribution the child’s families' make to the growth outcomes. The Centre has experience in evaluating the perceptual, emotional, cognitive, language, motor and social development interactions which accompany the growth hormone treatment.
